SPLITBOARDING 101 COURSES

WITH WESTON BACKCOUNTRY

Golden State Guiding is excited to announce that registration is open for our Winter 2025 Weston Backcountry Splitboarding 101 Courses in Mammoth Lakes!

With the support of Weston Backcountry, and our friends over at Volcom and Electric, Golden State Guiding is hosting multiple Splitboarding 101 Courses this winter in Mammoth Lakes! The Splitboarding 101 course is a 6 hour program in the front country of Mammoth Lakes that consists of multiple intro topics surrounding splitboard equipment and how to use it, beacon and partner safety checks, fundamental touring techniques and best practices for putting in a skin track, mapping software and resources to help plan your own personal tours in the backcountry, all with our professionally trained Splitboard Guide’s.

By the end of your Splitboarding 101 course you’ll have a general understanding of how to use a splitboard and will feel confident in your ability to tour in the front country. You’ll have an understanding of avalanche equipment and the appropriate safety checks you should be administering. And lastly, you’ll possess the knowledge to begin creating trip plans for the backcountry utilizing the mapping software we expose you to during the course.
